A cookery workshop for the young person who is leaving home for the world of work or university. A day class covering 10 simple dishes that are easy to learn as well as delicious. Sicilian meatballs, Bolognaise, Thai minced beef with chilli and Basil, cottage pie, Roast chicken and all the rest, risotto, simple curry, dahl, chicken shawarma with pita bread and hot sauce, the way to make soup.

The day starts with a quick lesson on how to fillet flat and round fish...something your fishmonger will do for you. We will prepare a fish stock, which will be used to make a classic veloute sauce and will be the basis for a seafood risotto. Hake with palourdes clams. Scallops with lime and chilli butter. Beer, butchery and BBQ is a day for that person who loves the elemental pleasure of cooking over charcoal. A demonstration of the basic butchery for BBQ from Richard at Halls Butchers, Totnes, covering chicken, lamb and pork, we will marinate, make rubs to take home and cook over charcoal. There will be a craft beer tasting from local brewers and a blow out dinner at the end of the day, with plenty of beer and with a guest of your choice.
